Небольшая радио экспедиция в осенний лес. A small radio expedition in the autumn forest.

Hello! We decided finally to go to the radio expedition to a nearby forest. This place is very nice: a small but dense forest, which is reflected in the mirrored surface of the lake. Around us are surrounded by high hills. Place the most suitable for scouts. So we are going to go on a small hike.
In this campaign, we have put a number of important objectives: to test antenna "long wire" four balances. And also check whether our gas burners are working so well and how good our new tourist kettles and kettle. We plan to cook meat soup and coffee and sandwiches.

Autumn has long occurred: falling leaves virtually ended. On the ground of fallen autumn leaves. At night, the frost was minus five degrees Celsius. A daytime temperature at this point was from minus three to four degrees C. The water in the lake even had time to freeze, and the lake was covered with ice. However ice thickness was only about one centimeter (about half an inch).

Next, we expand our radio equipment, install the antenna. Connect to an automatic tuner, four counterweights. The antenna is perfectly adjusted to 7 MHz, just 14 MHz. The antenna has proved very well in the work, and the longest radio was about 3150 kilometers. In this case the antenna height of the suspension was only 3 to 5 meters above the ground. Power transmission SSB modulation of about 30 Watts.

Just perfectly showed itself in the work and travel equipment. Everything worked perfectly and the cold, we were able to cook soup and coffee. And thanks to the gas burner we do not need to plant bonfires, so we do not cause harm to the nature. Dinner was spectacular outdoors.

The results of the expedition: everything went perfectly. All equipment and radio and Tourism perfectly fulfilled, no problems. The antenna works well, and thanks to the automatic tuner literally instantly switch from one range to another. All of the radio team of scouts and 73 best wishes!

Интересный чайник для любителей туризма

 Interesting teapot for tourism

Hello! Today we received a package from China with a small kettle only 0.9 liters. It has a very compact size, and it can literally put in a pot of 1.5 - 2 liters. Also in the kettle there is a special element that accelerates heat transfer.

And why do not we do an experiment? Let's measure the time that we need to boil 0.5 liters of water. Take water at an initial temperature of 22 degrees. Then every 30 seconds will measure temperature. The results were as follows:

30 seconds (30 ° C), 60 seconds (40 degrees) to 90 seconds (51 degrees), 120 seconds (62 degrees), 150 seconds (74 degrees), 180 seconds (84 degrees), 210 seconds (95 degrees). The water boil 3 minutes and 45 seconds. The result of experiment we pleased. \

Just fine kettle can be placed on a small gas burner. This design turns steady. Excellent tea for a few people (2-3 people). So let's take this in a kettle with a little hiking.

JOTA JOTI 2016 in Russia.

Hi, everybody! Oh, we it seems forgot to be presented. We it is small group of radio of scouts from Russia. We are in the Rostov region, approximately in 1000 km in the south from Moscow. In 2016 we traditionally take active part in JOTA and also in JOTI.

Yes as long we waited for approach of this event, significant for all scouts. Prepared long before in advance, and looked forward when JOTA-JOTI begins. There came the fall, there passed September. And here at last on October 15. At last waited! Now it is possible to join actively in fascinating activity of this international event for all scouts.

We work with still small group. Us only two persons, but nevertheless we will try to show the activity and to try to collect as much as possible special JID codes. Literally at the beginning of September we were registered on the website JOTA-JOTI and got the number. So the first task at us is to exchange a JID code as it is possible with a large number participants of the international event.

The second task is to carry out as the bigger number of radio communications (QSO) both between scouts, and between radio fans is possible. We have the personal amateur call sign of a scout – R6LCA. We will work in the range of 15 meters with digital forms of communication PSK modulation. But passing of radio waves was very bad. Generally communications on not really long distance are successful: from about 1500 to 3000 km. The truth sometimes was possible to communicate also on 7000-8000 km. But it was only two radio communications (island of Madagascar) and Indonesia.

As soon as passing on radio waves absolutely vanished we passed to JOTI. Here of course many participants work: scouts literally from all countries. Of course not all at once and at the same time: it is necessary to understand time difference between continents and some countries. Nevertheless there are a lot of participants in IRC chats.

It is worth calling as you begin to be abandoned literally with a large number of questions. Ask what is your name from where you, what is the weather like there. And of course exchange of JID codes is very popular here. Late at night we managed to talk using IRC a chat even with a volchyonok a scout from the USA.

[18:11:56] <pack353_will> of Hi ScoutScout
[18:11:59] <scoutscout> of Have you JID code?

[18:16:02] <scoutscout> of We now have 6:15. Soon dinner.
[18:16:42] <pack353_will> of Are you going to have borscht?
[18:18:22] <scoutscout> of Borsch is our national food. Yes of course, we often eat borscht for lunch. But dinner is usually an omelet or cereal, tea and a bun.
[18:19:08]

Also there was not less interesting contact and a scout from Poland. And important not only to receive (to exchange) JID codes from both parties of participants, but not less important also to talk and learn a little about each other. This time there has taken place such dialogue in a chat:

[9:48:04 PM] <madzia_gdynia> of hi
[9:48:19 PM] <scoutscout> of hi
[9:48:30 PM] <madzia_gdynia> of where are you from?

[9:51:18 PM] <scoutscout> of you have JID code?
[9:51:53 PM] <madzia_gdynia> 5pl22a
[9:51:57 PM] <madzia_gdynia> of your?
[9:52:21 PM] <scoutscout> 4RU42E
[9:54:05 PM] <madzia_gdynia> of what is your favourite thing in scouting?
[9:54:12 PM] <scoutscout> of https://fotostrana.ru/user/59581594/album/134539994/photos/
[9:54:21 PM] <scoutscout> of my fotos
[9:56:21 PM] <scoutscout> of Hiking, camping, cooking outdoors. Just like to work in the air. We often take a KV station. And of course, communication with scouts from different countries. Photos you can see on the link above.
[9:58:13 PM] <madzia_gdynia> of very nice photos

It is clear that to communicate by means of IRC of chats using the Internet it doesn't represent any difficulties. And here work in an air it already quite another matter: here it is necessary to consider passing of radio waves, to be able to adjust the radio equipment and of course it is necessary to be able to carry out also a radio communication. But nevertheless we managed by means of рдаиоволн to svzyaatsya with the scout station working in JOTA:

As you see radio communications, even in the conditions of bad passing of radio waves are successful. It is also healthy when scouts master an amateur radio communication and work actively in an air. But for this purpose it is necessary to know much from area of radio engineering and to be able to carry out radio communications. However the real scout is always ready to master new skills, in this case an amateur radio communication.

It is natural that we actively participate in JOTA-JOTI during the whole day: from morning to evening. It is preparation, check of the radio equipment in the morning. And after 12 o'clock in the afternoon we already actively work both in an air and on the Internet. But sometimes it is necessary to take a break. Breaks at us two: the first coffee of feet, for about 15 minutes we leave all our affairs and we leave to have coffee with cakes. In an hour one and a half at us a big break for about 20 minutes where we have already dinner (meat noodles soup, tea with cake on the second). So two such at us cheerful a break. Ate and again for work …

Here unexpectedly to us e-mail from our friends of scouts came from the USA. It is group number 394. Children sent us several photos and the small video. It was very interesting to look how there passes JOTA-JOTI in other country. And in general it is healthy when scouts exchange not only a JID code but also and photos and the more so video. So friends scouts of group 394 thank you very much for photos and video! It was very interesting to look. It was just a pity for the video clip only one, and very short. We hope that another time it will be longer also with a sound.

Results of JOTA JOTI 2016: everything was pleasant to us, was great once again to participate in such interesting international event. The main thing this that as this time at us everything turned out and despite difficulties we could participate in this international event of a scout the next time. Prior to a meeting next year …
